More on Juanita- October 7, 2009

Hi All,
Juanita continues to fluctuate between good and bad days. According to Fred she doesn't talk much, she seems more discouraged, and she is asleep a lot. He thinks she is just getting tired of the whole ordeal and wanting to go home to be with the Lord.
Fred had hoped that she would be able to make it home by the holidays, but she still requires more rehab and care than Fred is able to give by himself. At this point it is uncertain when she will come home.
Fred has been battling an ugly head cold this week and hasn't been able to go and visit her. Please pray for quick healing for him.
Please keep the whole family in your prayers as they rely each day on God's grace and mercy.

Thanks,
Andy

Juanita Back In The Hospital

Hi All,
Last night Juanita was taking in to the ER. She had a temp of 104 caused by the flair up of an infection. They were able to get her stabilized, but she was very sick. She is likely to spend at least a few more days in the hospital as they try to get the infection under control.
Most of the areas of infection have been improving, but she is still fighting them off. Juanita is still very much in need of our prayers! She has come a long way, but she is not out of the woods yet.
I'll keep you updated as new information comes in.

Blessings,
Andy

Juanita Update- 8/13

Juanita was moved a few weeks ago to a nursing facility in Carmichael. Her infections are continuing to heal up nicely and she is making good progress. They have cut back on the pain medication and she is much more coherent. At this point Fred needs to either find some home health service or wait until she is completely healed to bring her home. The facility she is in is nice, but she is anxious to come home.

Please pray for continued healing and strength. Pray for wisdom and patience for Fred as he tries to navigate the complicated health care system. Pray that Juanita will be able to some home soon!

Blessings,
Andy

Juanita News- July 29

Hi All,

Juanita and Fred continue to ride the health care roller coaster. As of last week the hospital told Fred that Juanita would have to be transferred to a long term nursing facility. But the only facilities that were available were either in San Francisco, Stockton, or Fresno. Not very reasonable options. Fred lobbied for something a little closer, and they were able to find a place for her in Carmichael. She is being moved there today.
The infection is getting much better, and she is getting closer to being able to come home, but she still has some healing and some rehabbing to do.
Pray for complete healing and good care while at the nursing facility and pray for her to come home soon! Keep praying for strength and encouragement for Fred too!

Thanks,
Andy

New Juanita Update- July 15

Hi Everyone,
News on Juanita still continues to be a mixed bag. She is feeling better, eating better, and seems to be in a better mood; however she has some very serious infections that are not going away as quickly as we would like. The doctors have even contemplated removing more of her leg in order to take car of the infection! Fred has refused to let them do any more amputating and has asked for them to ramp up the antibiotics.
- Pray for the infections to heal up quickly!
- Pray for wisdom for Fred and the family as they have to make tough choices about he care.
- Pray for strength and stamina for Juanita.
- Pray for God's grace, peace, and strength for them!

Blessings,
Pastor Andy

Juanita Update

Hi Again All,
Juanita was moved to the facility in Davis, but due to a UTI she had to be moved back over to Kaiser again for a few days. The hope is that she will be back in Davis very soon. I haven't talked to Fred since this morning so she might already be back.
She is eating better, moving better, and looking better. She still has a lot of rehab left and a lot of new things to learn. Please pray for her health to stabilize so that she can focus on getting stronger and getting home.
There will need to be some big adjustments made in order to bring her home. Fred will have to trade in her Cadillac for a van, the house will need some prep work, and some regular assistance will have to be set up to aid Fred.
I will keep you all informed as to how you can help them out in the weeks to come. For now, just keep praying. It works!

Blessings,
Pastor Andy
